Leveling a Seasonal Character in Diablo 4

I settled on my Spiritborn as the class I was going to level through Season 10. So far, it has worked really well. I'm using an "Evade Storm Leveling" build that just chews things up. You can find it here:  https://mobalytics.gg/diablo-4/builds/spiritborn-mr-ronit-spiritborn-leveling

I mainly started doing stuff in Helltides, and then as my gear got better, I started mixing in some Nightmare dungeons. Then I needed to work on my renown in each zone a bit, so around level 45 or so, I switched to doing Strongholds and Dungeons and stuff to unlock the first three renown bonuses in each zone. I'm at level 56 now and have two more zones to finish, so I'll probably need to hop back into Nightmare dungeons to finish off the last two levels.

This is my first time playing seasonal content in Diablo 4, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. The Chaos Perks and similar things are fun. I'm still leveling, so I'm not playing higher-level content to try to get Chaos Armor and stuff like that, but the storyline and extra perks definitely spice up the leveling experience a bit.

I've been struggling with whether I want to do much at endgame in Diablo 4 once I'm finished.   I've watched some videos and looked at a few guides, and I've got the basic gist of what I need to do to progress through the difficulty levels.

One of the things that is hard to figure out is that so many sites have different tier lists of what the best builds are for endgame right now, and they are all over the place on what makes sense. That's a good thing because it may mean there are lots of strong viable options. It could also mean that a few of the sites that I'm looking at don't know what they're talking about. I've been looking at Icy Veins, Wowhead, Maxroll.gg, and Mobalytics. They all have good stuff and interesting guides, but, like I said, not a ton of consistency.

So I may try a bit of endgame on either the Necromancer or Spiritborn while I have time in between WoW alts. And at least I have two different characters to try out.

Moving Back into WoW Alts

I got quite a bit done last week on the various other games that I've been playing. I finished up the new expansion content for Guild Wars 2 on my Reaper. I enjoyed it quite a bit and am anxious to see where the story goes from here, although I'll have a bit of a wait.

I haven't updated my homestead to the new location yet, so I need to go back and do that, and then I can start working my Mechanist through the latest content.

In Diablo 4, I finished getting my Necromancer to max level and through the Vessel of Hatred campaign. I also started a Spiritborn and am leveling that character as well. I can't quite decide if I like that one yet, so I may start up a Rogue too, and see which one feels better for my next class. I'm not sure if I'm going to like the whole seasonal Helltide / grinding leveling process, so we'll have to see.

So with that all completed, I've gone back to finishing up my alts in World of Warcraft.  I switched the rogue over to subtlety because Outlaw wasn't really feeling great. So the new spec is working much better.

Once this character is done, I just have two warlocks and two hunters to knock out, and that will be it.

Till next week!

October Month in Review

You would not expect that becoming unexpectedly unemployed would significantly reduce my playtime, but here we are. Part of the reason for this is that my wife has decided that if I don't work for a Fortune 500 company anymore, I must obviously work for her instead. She is not the ideal employer.

My play time was down significantly from what has been normal lately, but is balanced pretty much the way it has been, with the vast majority going to World of Warcraft, a little bit to Guild Wars 2 with the new expansion, and a tiny bit to Diablo 4.

In World of Warcraft, I got two more characters to max level last month and have made good progress on the Rogue so far, who is now sitting at level 70 and ready to work through the War Within content. After that, I'll finish up my Vulpera warlock, who is sitting at level 51.

I've also been enjoying the Guild Wars 2 expansion so far. I'm at the stage in Chapter 4 where I just have to grind out xp for the next level of skimmer mastery. That seems to be a block point in the last couple of expansions, and it's not something I'm crazy about from an overall game flow perspective, but I need to just spend the time knocking it out. I've been working on a lot of map-completion stuff, which has gotten me a chunk of the way there, but I need to start chain-running events to finish it.

I'm enjoying the expansion and storyline so far and am anxious to see what more it has in store once I get past this point. I've started with my Reaper this time and then plan to do Mechanist and Ranger after that, assuming I don't get distracted with other stuff.

I'm still working on getting my original toon through the latest expansion's content in Diablo 4. I'm sitting around level 56, and I think about halfway through the storyline, so I should be in good shape there. After getting my Necromancer done, I'm thinking about doing a Rogue and then a Spiritborn through the Seasonal content.

We've gotten through a lot of stuff getting the house ready to sell, and we've also moved from Water Polo season into Swim Team season, so that may mean more play time, but we'll see.

My overall game plan is to finish the GW2 content on my Reaper, then go back and finish up all the alts in World of Warcraft, then go back to finish Mechanist and Ranger in GW2, then switch to Diablo 4 until Midnight comes out. I don't think there will be time to do all that, but we'll see.

That is the update for now.
