Back to Regular Leveling

I finished leveling my Legion Remix character up to 80, so now I'm back to regular leveling.  I'm still working on the Demon Hunter that I had started before I decided to do a different Demon Hunter for Legion Remix.  He's currently sitting at level 76, so not much further to go.  After that, I've got two characters sitting around level 50, and then I think 3 at level 10, and then I'll be done with all the alts, unless I decide to start something new.

There are only 3 of the non-recent classes that I only have 3 of still - Priest, Warrior, Death Knight and Monk.  I'm planning on Priest as the class for the new Allied Race in Midnight, so the next one will probably be a Death Knight, just because I enjoy that class quite a bit.  It actually surprises me that I don't have more of them.

Starting next week, we have the new Guild Wars 2 expansion dropping, so that will take some time away from leveling.  I'm also still not getting as much play time as normal as things continue to be crazy on the home front.  With the new Guild Wars 2 expansion, I may try running three characters through it this time instead of just the two, adding my ranger to the mix.  I was also thinking about adding either a Mesmer or an Elementalist to the mix, just to be able to take advantage of my new legendary gloves, but we'll have to see on that front.

That's the update for now.

Legion Remix Initial Thoughts

I've started working on my Demon Hunter for the Legion Remix, and it seems similar to the last time around. I'm enjoying the process, just like I did with the first variation of the Remix system. My demon hunter is sitting somewhere in the 20s and is still working his way through Aszuna. I've already picked up enough Bronze to buy two of the mounts, so I want to knock out most of them before I get to level 80.

After that, it will be back to my normal leveling group, which also means going back to another demon hunter. I might be pretty tired of them by the time I get them both to 80, but those are the last ones to do, so there won't be any more demon hunter 'ing until Midnight launches.

It's really nice that the one-button rotation is available during Remix, because I've come to enjoy using it quite a bit. I'll probably return to doing things the normal way eventually, but for now, it feels like a nice way to do it for me.

Real life has been a train wreck right now, and unfortunately, I haven't been able to spend as much time escaping to Azeroth as I might have liked. I got laid off from my job about a week ago. I am nearing retirement anyway, and they offered me a generous severance package, but it was still a bit of a shock, and it's quite an adjustment for someone who has been very work-oriented for the past 35 years.

Then, our youngest son decided that he had changed his mind about where he was going to college. He had been committed to swim at Texas A&M starting Fall of 2026, and decided to change his commitment and go swim for Arizona State instead. He just thought the team and coaching staff there was a better fit with his personality.

Then, our dog developed some kind of illness last week and had to spend quite a bit of time hospitalized. As it turns out, our dog had developed some ulcers in her upper GI tract, and she's on medication now and feeling quite a bit better, but she wasn't doing very well for a few days last week and had us all very worried.

So my game time has been severely limited. My wife isn't particularly interested in the part of my retirement plan that involves playing a lot more video games. However, we also need to work on getting the house ready to sell so that we can move somewhere closer to Arizona next summer when the munchkin starts school there. Not that he needs or wants us nearby, but it would be nice to be able to see his competitions more easily and cheaply than a 4 1/2 hour flight. Additionally, Arizona is a decent enough place to start my retirement, assuming I end up actually pursuing that path.

That is the update for now.

September in Review

September was a weird month.  I actually didn't think I had all that much play time because of things going on in real life, but then I look back on it, and I actually had a ton of play time.  Because of the fractal thing that I mentioned before with Guild Wars 2, my time is actually a little bit more spread out than usual across a variety of different games.

My total play time for the month was 57 1/2 hours, so quite a bit more than usual.  I did have a couple of out-of-town trips where I was able to play for quite a bit on the weekends, so that is at least partially responsible.

World of Warcraft continued to be my main area of focus, with 39 hours, but Guild Wars 2 had a respectable showing, thanks to the fractal event, at 11 hours.  Then, in my efforts to break up the monotony a bit, I have actually been playing a fair amount of Diablo IV.  I haven't actually finished the campaign or gotten a character to max level yet, but I did complete the first campaign, and my character is currently at level 50, so I'm making good progress.

Not shown on the chart above is that I've also gone back and taken another shot at Path of Exile. I'm still not sure I've found a class that I like on that game.  It may be that it's just not easy/mindless enough for me, given my very casual play style, but I keep trying it.  Right now, I'm doing a little bit of Witch and a little bit of Ranger, trying to decide which I like better.

In World of Warcraft, I finished leveling the mage that I had been working on and have moved on to the Death Knight.  After that, the Rogue is the last of my original level 50s.  I'm currently sitting on 45 max-level characters, and if I finish all the various alts, that will give me 51.  Adding one from the Legion remix event would bring the total to 52 heading into Midnight.  Seems a bit out of control.

In Guild Wars 2, with both the Reaper and Machinist in full ascended now, I'm starting to work on gearing up my Ranger / Untamed.  I'll probably run all three through the new expansion once it hits.

I will also continue playing Diablo IV for a bit.  I want to complete the main campaign and level my Necromancer to 60, and then try playing a seasonal character to see how that feels.

That's the update for now!

Back to Regular Leveling

I finished leveling my Legion Remix character up to 80, so now I'm back to regular leveling.  I'm still working on the Demon Hunter ...
